Zoe Wong used to call herself an artist but now she’s not really sure anymore. Sometimes she likes to exhibit art, sometimes she likes to write, sometimes she even likes to take a few photos between meals. One thing is for certain though: Zoe Wong is definitely GAY and definitely half Chinese. This comes up A LOT in whatever she makes or writes. She used to describe her practice as “De-Orientalising” which was basically just a smart ass way of saying that she liked to pick apart imagery of China as seen from a Western perspective. She has a lot of feelings about “what it means to be half Chinese” and “what it means to be a Lesbian” and more specifically  “what it means to be a half Chinese Lesbian”. Representation is SUPER important to Zoe, so whatever she creates, whether it be screenplays, poetry, abstract sculptures or fully sick installations; she will always reflect her experiences in the hopes of connecting to others like her.
